Mark Klostermeyer – Design Frames – Falls Church, VA - 09/16/2011
Design Frames has been in business for nearly 45 years and Mark, the owner, has been a Wizard customer for more than 13 years. In the video, Mark talks about why his business benefits from using a Wizard CMC with Integrated Framer® Visualization software.
"Let's face it, if I didn't have Wizard then I wouldn't be in business," says Klostermeyer. "The Wizard CMC is dependable, allows for creativity and makes training new employees very easy."

Kurt Shaw – Shaw Galleries – Pittsburgh, PA - 03/14/2011
I liked using the Wizard CMC from the first day that I got it. I immediately put it into production, and two years later I am still amazed to be learning all of the things that I can accomplish with it. I know other framers who have Wizard CMCs that say it’s like having another employee, but I think it’s even better than that because it offers a lot of creative options that I wouldn’t otherwise think of or be able to provide for my customers.
I finally took the plunge and got Integrated Framer® Retail Management software and feel relieved that I will no longer lose profits on each frame job. Being in a major metropolitan market, I feel the pricing structure already programmed in the package is right on the mark. It allows enough of a margin to make each job worthwhile and profitable.
Thanks to IF Retail Management software, my customers don't blink an eye when I present the price. I show them the price right on my computer screen, before printing a quote and they accept it as fact. When asked if there are any cheaper options, I make the adjustments immediately in the IF Visualization software, usually resulting in the customer coming back to their original choices and, most importantly, agreeing to pay the price.
Without IF Retail Management, I have to admit, there were too many times where I was just guessing. That's a dangerous thing, because there were times that I realized I was working for what amounted to minimum wage, and I'm the OWNER! Getting IF Retail Management has been the major step in nipping that in the bud. Now I know that I’ll make money on each order.
Honestly, I couldn’t imagine operating my business without all of my Wizard products. The CMC 8000 is a reliable workhorse. The software has provided me with a level of comfort that is unmatched. I no longer worry about losing money on a frame job.
Wizard's customer support team is very reliable. My phone calls and e-mails have always been answered or returned promptly, within the same day. To my amazement, when I needed custom solutions in terms of software, they recognized it and readily provided it. The best part is knowing the company and its people won't leave me hanging. I know if I need help, it's just a phone call or e-mail away, and that's a good feeling.
With Wizard, I feel like I own a framing Ferrari, but have only got it into second gear. I can't wait to go full throttle!

Amy Wilson – Wilson Framing – Mt. Vernon, WA - 01/05/2011
We currently have a new Wizard 9000 mat cutter, Wizard Wink camera and Integrated Framer® Visualization software. We have had a Wizard mat cutter for at least 15 years, and IF Visualization for approximately four months.
We love what our new CMC 9000 is capable of doing: 90-degree cuts, 8-ply mats, pen drawings, debossing and more. We cannot imagine our business without our mat cutter. We save a lot more matboard these days and we love how creative we can be. Our customers love it because they know they can always rely on clean cuts, nice corners and accurate measurements on complicated jobs. They love seeing the examples we have for them and it’s fun to see them get excited about new possibilities.
The Wizard Wink camera and IF Visualization are great to share with customers! Everyone is so impressed with being able to see what their artwork will look like framed, and it really helps us as framers, too.
All aspects of our business have benefitted by using Wizard products. Our mat cutter definitely increases our productivity, and the IF Visualization helps increase revenue by ‘upselling’ frames and matting to our customers. We are not big on pushing people into bigger mats and more expensive frames, but the picture previews speak for themselves!
Wizard International is a wonderful company to work with and their customer service is superb. Whenever we have questions, there is always someone to help. Their products are of the highest quality, and the attention to detail is evident in how user-friendly their products and machines are.
Set up was done in less than a business day, and we loved having Lenny Rice in the store giving us instruction on calibration, cutting and learning the new tools. We are always learning new things about what our mat cutter is capable of, but within a week all of us in the store were very comfortable operating our mat cutter and IF Visualization software.
The best things about being a customer of Wizard International are the level of customer service we receive and the cost of operating their products. We view our Wizard mat cutter as another employee. When you look at it that way, it’s wonderfully inexpensive labor for something that does so much for us!

Jarrod J. Perrott – FastFrame of LoDo – Denver, CO - 06/03/2010
I couldn't be more pleased to have a Wizard computerized mat cutter in my store. Before we made the decision to obtain a Wizard CMC, we cut all of our mats by hand. It was very time consuming and we were limited as to what designs we could offer our customers. Now that we have the Wizard CMC, the variety of designs that we can cut seems endless. We can now cut just about any mat design in a matter of minutes.
Being that we're located in downtown Denver, we have a lot of corporate accounts who want the same designs over an extended period of time. We simply save the templates and bring them up from our database when we need them!
The Wizard software is very user-friendly, and whenever we have a problem Wizard support is right there to assist us.
Having a Wizard CMC in our store gives us a competitive advantage. Our customers come to us for our vast capabilities and designs instead of going someplace else where their options are limited. It has helped FastFrame of LoDo become one of the best expert custom framing businesses in Denver. Thank you!
Update 9/7/2011: FastFrame of LoDo was voted Best Custom Framing in Denver on KMGH Denver's 7 A-List in 2010 & 2011! Editors Choice: 5280 Magazine's 'Top of the Town' for Best Customer Service in Denver in 2011! Congratulations on the well-earned awards, Jarrod!

Amy Bohl-Fabian – Custom Frame Shop – Harrisburg, PA - 04/09/2010
When I call Wizard Customer Support I always get the answers I need from someone who is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to spend time solving the problem.
I recently needed help with a very specific mat design. I hadn’t used the PathTrace software and needed help. Ryan in customer support walked me through the whole process and never made me feel rushed or incompetent.
Wizard is a company that wants to provide an all around quality experience for its customers. When I hang up with them, I always think that I'd like to work there.
Wizard customer support has helped my business by their willingness to help me learn about their products. Combining the Integrated Framer Retail Management software and the mat cutter has saved time and money. By being able to enter the information once and using the program to provide a visual reference at the point of sale, mistakes have been reduced.
I can’t imagine NOT having a Wizard CMC. I would absolutely recommend the mat cutter and the software to anyone considering the investment. It pays for itself over and over.

Malcolm and Anne Carne - Lyttelton Picture Framing - Lyttelton, New Zealand - 01/29/2010
We have cut mats with a manual cutter for years. Now our Wizard CMC allows us to provide more creative designs at more affordable prices.
The Wizard CMC allows us to be much more creative. It opens new ways to enhance mat designs that were impossible with a manual cutter. Things we used to avoid such as multiple openings, circles, ovals and debossed text are now a breeze on this marvelous machine.
The Wizard CMC has renewed our excitement in picture framing and has given us a new enthusiasm for creative matting.

Fran LaMantia - Wordyisms, Inc. - Pflugerville, TX - 11/11/2009
The online Wizard University webinars are very informative, fun and creative. I've taken four courses so far including: Design with Debossing, Everyday Shapes in the Template Library, Seasonal Designs with CutArt and Designing with PathTrace Series. I wholeheartedly recommend taking the online courses that Wizard offers.
It is convenient taking the courses from my own shop without taking time away from my business. Brian Wolf is fun to watch and an excellent teacher. Following along with each step as he was doing them was extremely useful. I took notes, but found that I didn't need them because of the downloadable handouts that are provided after the class. I enjoy watching the videos of the webinar after the fact to review and practice on my own CMC. Overall, a great learning experience.
I enjoyed the Designing with PathTrace Series webinar the most. I've used Wizard CMCs for years and have experience with the everyday features, but learning to use PathTrace has opened up more creative design possibilities. It's exciting to learn challenging designs and find new ways to implement them!

Loren Fedorowicz - Walnut Street Gallery - Wooster, OH - 06/18/2009
I’ve been using my Wizard CMC 8000 since December 2006 and I consider it to be a problem solver. I have had some very challenging pieces come through my gallery and the Wizard CMC has offered a solution every time. In addition to being a problem solver, it is very easy to use, extremely precise, and is just a lot of fun. This machine now offers no limit to my creativity.
This machine has also bought me some time. When I first received my Wizard 2 ½ years ago, I immediately started using it. I was dumbfounded by the amount of time it took to cut mats. It cut mats in half the time it took to use my manual mat-cutter and I was left wondering what to do with my remaining time. Quite frankly, it actually gave me a little time to sit down for some much needed rest during the day.
I no longer turn away customer ideas when they are looking for something new or different when designing a mat - I now tell them I am “up for the challenge.” I am so confident in the abilities of my Wizard and what I can create with this machine that it actually gives me the freedom and the belief to say “ I can do that for you” at the design counter.
In the 2 ½ years I have owned my Wizard CMC I must say that I have not had a lot of experience with Wizard’s customer support department because the initial setup and first-time use of the machine was quite easy. However, when I did need to speak with customer support on a few occasions, they were pleasant, thorough and followed-up on every issue, every time.
I cannot imagine my business without my Wizard CMC and I wish I had purchased it when I opened my gallery. I am so happy to own this machine!

Keith Hummel - Ki Gifts & Custom Framing - Sacramento, CA - 06/11/2009
I got my CMC 8500 almost three years ago and recently added IF Retail Management and IF Visualization for a little over a year ago.
The best part is that they all work together. IF Visualization is a great sales tool, my customers love it. IF Retail Management makes pricing fast and easy. Together they are like having an employee that is always there, doesn’t argue or talk too much, and always does things my way!
Before I had my Wizard products, working with customers was a lot more stressful. Designs were “try to imagine this”, and pricing jobs were time consuming and prone to errors. Now it’s so much easier to say “here, this will give you a good idea of what it will look like when it’s done”, customers love it!
I worked customer support for 25 years. To me, you can tell the quality of a product by how busy the support department is. An overwhelmed support department is not a good sign for product quality. At Wizard I get somebody knowledgeable every time I call. I get put through right away, I never have to wait to talk to someone. I have never heard a call sequencer. This says two things: #1) quality products #2) knowledgeable support people who can answer questions accurately and quickly.
I also especially appreciate the lady who answers the phone, she’s great, with a great voice (she should be a professional voice talent), and Alissa, who always keeps an eye on my account and takes great care of me.

Brian Hart - Frame De Art II - Englewood, CO - 05/12/2009
WINNER! Best Custom Framing in Denver, CO 2008
There are so many reasons to have the Wizard mat cutter and IF Visualization Software. They allow me to be better than the competition, and offer many options to my customers. I have many repeat customers who want the same design time after time, and with my Wizard I can give it to them exactly the same, with a very quick set-up. Plus using IF Visualization to show a customer what their art will look like framed before it is actually framed creates excitement in the customer.
Before I got my Wizard CMC I had far fewer mat cutting options to offer my customers. I was not able to be as creative and not able to offer the exact same design at a later date.
It did not take me long to start using the Wizard mat cutter, but everyday I am learning new tricks and designs it offers. It seems as though the possibilities are only limited by my imagination. The IF Visualization Software is very easy to use as well. Both set-ups do not require you to spend all day, and you can be up and running very quickly.
Now I can offer so much to my customers and they enjoy seeing what the possibilities are with both the Wizard and the Visualization Software. It is nice to be able to tell a customer, that we can frame the same design and collage year after year.
Even after 12 years as a Wizard Customer, I have not exhausted all the possibilities these products have to offer. My Wizard products have paid for themselves many times over.
I honestly cannot imagine owning a frame store without a Wizard mat cutter. For any frame store that is serious about being in business and great customer service, they must have the Wizard CMC and IF Visualization.
Wizard really knows what a frame store customer needs and helps me be one of the best picture frame stores in Denver. The products work seamlessly and will only get better.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Wizard CMC and IF Visualization Software have contributed to my store being voted Best Custom Frame Store in Denver for 2008.
Wizard is excited when I succeed!

Ellen Russell - Artisan Custom Framing - Mill Creek, WA - 04/15/2009
I am currently using a Wizard CMC 8000, IF Visualization and IF Retail Management. I acquired the CMC when I purchased the store about 2 ½ years ago, and I started using the IF Suite products a little over a year ago.
My favorite thing about the three products is that they all work together. I never have to worry about double entry. Also, my productivity is increased by using the CMC and my revenue is increased with IF Visualization because customers can see how much nicer something looks with a larger mat or frame.
I never really liked hand figuring dimensions and prices -using a calculator and tables always seemed so old fashioned. Now that I have IF Retail Management people are much more apt to accept the price given based on a computer’s figures rather than my figures from a calculator.
My Wizard products are smart and seamless – they work together to save me time and money. My job is easier, I make less mistakes and I can be more creative.

Letha & Mike Drury - South Hill Gallery - Lexington, KY - 12/02/2008
We have a Wizard CMC 8000 and Integrated Framer Visualization. We have been using the CMC since 2002 and IF Visualization since 2007.
IF Visualization is a great tool that allows you to show off your design talent to customers. I was able to intuitively set up and use IF Visualization with no help at all! The software is very menu driven and easy to pick up and use. And with a great technical support team, any challenge can be easily addressed with a phone call.
IF Visualization has been useful for us with clients; however, we have found our best use of it with the commercial aspect of our business, as we often work with designers that are located in other parts of the country. We use IF Visualization to build a proposal of frame designs that match the project art and furnishings. We can email photos of the project to the designer for approval, all without every leaving the design bar! AMAZING!
The Wizard CMC has been very useful for many things: High production jobs, multi openings are a breeze, fancy cuts, circles and v-grooves have become part of the regular design process. We also cut multi- opening mats for our local distributor and other local frame shops, and most of all it quickly makes people with a non-framing background an expert mat cutter in a matter of hours.
Even a “small” shop can benefit from the use of a CMC, in design capability and efficient use of the framer’s time. If I had a limited budget for equipment, I would want a Wizard above all else.
Before we had our Wizard CMC we were basically a one man shop. Since getting the Wizard we have grown our business to include Mike as owner, a full-time framer, and myself as a designer and mat cutter.
The initial benefit of the Wizard CMC was productivity – it is truly like having another employee. Greater productivity always equals an increase in revenue! Having the ability to make difficult cuts with ease allows us to save time and price competitively –especially in the commercial arena. As we have learned to use the creative side of the wizard, we can now add elements which are salable items, and give the client a more unique project. I learn more every day on using the Wizard and am continuing to learn with each challenging project.
We rely heavily on the customer support department to talk us through issues. They have never disappointed us. No matter what the question is, they are always courteous and patient in their instructions. We love the fact that they are in a time zone which allows us to call after hours – which is always when technical support issues arise – at night trying to finish a project!
The creative freedom that comes from having a Wizard is wonderful. Another great benefit of being in the Wizard family is having the creative power of Brian Wolf at our disposal. It is nice to use the products that are “industry standard” so you have the network of creative exchange to keep the projects flowing! We love our Wizard.
P.S. - We recently bought the inventory and equipment, including a competitor brand CMC, from a frame shop that was closing its doors. After a side-by-side comparison of both CMCs, we found the Wizard to be more user-friendly and intuitive. We sold the competitor's machine and continue to love using our Wizard CMC.

David St Lawrence - Floyd Custom Framing - Floyd, VA - 08/18/2008
The use of Wizard hardware and software has enabled us to economically provide a level of customer service that routinely exceeds customer expectations. As a result, our growth has been fueled by many personal referrals and our production costs are still under control.
The Wizard family of products has also given our workshop added credibility and visibility since there is no framing shop within 75 miles that has all three critical elements of Visualization, Computerized Mat Cutter, and a POS system.
I think of the Wizard products as a great equalizer because they level the playing field for smaller custom framing shops. A sole proprietor can spend more time servicing customers and designing elegant and cost-effective solutions because the design details are captured by Wizard Visualization software and precision mat cutting is a snap with our Wizard 8000.
Wizard Visualization is an essential part of our business model. We provide free pickup and delivery in a fairly wide area and that accounts for almost half of our business. In many cases the customer may not visit the workshop. We interview the customer as to the desired treatment for the art and any specific requests and budget considerations. Multiple design proposals are created using our Wizard Visualization System and images are sent to the customer by email. The customer reviews the designs and selects the treatment they prefer. Once a design is approved, it is scheduled, produced, and delivered with customer getting updates and images as required.
If design changes are necessary for any reason, the customer gets a complete description and a detailed image showing the changes to be made. The Visualization software saves our time and customer visits when sorting out tricky design issues or material substitutions.
On the production side, our Wizard 8000 provides reliable and precise mat cutting day after day with no surprises. Complex mats are not a problem and the ability to customize openings and v-grooves opens the door to offering customers uniquely customized designs at very little additional cost. This provides a great deal of leverage in closing a sale and leads to great customer referrals. The customer gets more than they expect and our framing shop with Wizard tools is able to control costs even with special designs. Everybody wins.
Wizard sales and technical support has been excellent. The company has been open to suggestions and monitors online forums to pick up on suggestions and reported problems in a timely manner. The products continue to evolve and customers are kept in the loop when issues arise. As an independent framer, I consider the people at Wizard to be an essential part of my operating team, along with the framers with whom I network and share information.
Wizard has also provided innovative Wizard Deals which allowed me to experience the power of the Wizard 8000 with a QuickStart Rental program when Floyd Custom Framing was only three months old. The flexibility of the Wizard Deal allowed me to move up to a Time Rental program as soon as I outgrew the QuickStart program two months later.
The Software Subscription programs let me begin using Visualization and Retail Management immediately instead of having to wait until I could buy them outright. I feel the software is not only powerful but is also reliable. Since my business relies on Wizard software, that is an important consideration.
I depend on Wizard products and support and look forward to future product and service offerings.
Floyd Custom Framing has recently celebrated its first anniversary and has added two part time employees to handle peak loads.

Karen Sergent-Rakers - Karen's Custom Frames - Goldsboro, NC - 03/21/2008
UPDATE 6/27/08: Karen was recently honored with Wayne County’s Small Business of the Year Award. To learn more about Karen's accomplishment, click here.
I currently have a Wizard CMC 8000, Integrated Framer Visualization, Debossing Tool & Integrated Framer Retail Management in my shop. The Wizard 8000 was purchased in Nov. 2005, IF Visualization in Jan. 2006, Debossing Tool in Sept. 2007, and IF Retail Management in Oct. 2007 as part of the Smart 100 Program.
The best thing about all these products is the way they are all built to work together and enhance each other.
Before I got all my Wizard products it was time consuming to design and price a customer’s piece of art work. There was uncertainty on the customer's part, wondering if they made the right decision. (No more phone calls saying to hold on to an item until the customer could come back in and look one more time!!) Then there was the chance of making a mistake in pricing or the customer feeling that they could negotiate a better price since we had to punch each item into a calculator to get a total. I worried about making a mistake while cutting a multi-opening mat and hoping we had another just in case a mistake was made. It was hard to keep track of which part of an order was finished and which part was waiting on a mat or frame.
Learning the everyday aspects of IF Suite was really easy and took no time at all. Although setting up IF Retail Management was time consuming due to the fact that I customized the program to every detail of my shop.
So many aspects of my shop have benefited from the use of my Wizard products. The ability to make the customer feel more confident about the choice they make by being able to view the finished piece before we do it. Up-selling an item by adding v-grooves, debossing, cut art, etc. to enhance a customers artwork. The speed at which we can get a customer to commit to a sale, and the time that the customer is in and out of the shop. The ease of IF Retail Management for pricing, customers seem to trust that the price the computer gives them is correct and they can see what the price for each item is instead of trusting someone to punch numbers into a calculator. The ability to cut a large amount of mats in about a quarter of the time with precision. The ability to know the status of an item in the shop by being able to log it in and see if it is in progress, completed or picked up.
The entire process from design to completion has been significantly simplified. The time saved at the front counter has increased the time that I can dedicate to framing.
Wizard has an amazing set of products that are time saving in all aspects of framing. From designing and completing a sale by getting the customer in and out of the shop feeling confident that the item they brought in will look great and that the price was reasonable, to the time saved in production, being able to cut mats efficiently and correctly using only the amount of material that you need. And the ability to know the status of an item and where it is in the working order.
My experience with Wizard's Customer Support team has been fantastic!! The knowledge and patience that they exhibit is wonderful!! They listen to the problem, (even though some of us don’t know how to explain the problem correctly, we just know things aren’t working the way they are supposed to), taking the time to explain in easy terms on how the problem might have occurred, and most importantly finding a solution to our problem and taking us step by step through the process to help us get back on track fast.
The best thing about being a Wizard customer is knowing that there is only one phone number I need to call to get answers to any problems or questions that I may have about my Wizard products and knowing that they will always help find an answer or solution. And also, using products that are made to work together to efficiently complete a framing project from beginning to end.

Gwen McNish - Frame City, Inc - Solon, OH - 10/25/2007
The Wizard and I arrived at Frame City about the same time – two years ago. I can’t say how things were at this shop before that but I can say that in the twenty years that I have been framing I have never felt my job was easy until now. Not only is it technically less stressful, it is a lot easier on the sales counter as well. Integrated Framer not only makes it possible for the customer to visualize completed projects but it is a great asset to help explain mat widths, frame size and general scale and balance issues. Even more importantly to me, it allows you to layout multiple openings and to try various opening shapes before making any cuts.
The Wizard mat cutter “is the best thing since sliced bread.” The ability to create complicated mats with exact precision is wonderful and justifies the price we charge. Waste and error are so drastically reduced that time and money are both conserved. We have had a request for twenty four triple matted frames to be completed overnight and with the help of the Wizard it was a piece of cake.
We are able to offer so many unique mat embellishments now. Not only are the pre-loaded letters and CutArt an interesting option but once you master PathTrace, school logos, sports teams, business logos, etc. are unique ways to upgrade your design. It has been a valued investment at our shop.
The Wizard support team has always been there to help but I would highly recommend a training class with Brian Wolf. His personal knowledge of the machine makes the learning process much easier. Set up of the machine was painless and quick but I’m sure I’ll still be learning new ways to use it for years to come

Sandy DeFalco - Custom Engraved Products - Palm Coast, FL. - 07/20/2007
We are currently using an Eclipse XL and are coming up on our three month anniversary with this CMC. The best thing about the Eclipse is that ANYONE can use this machine. My 11 year old, as smart as he is, has a hard time reading a ruler, has been cutting mats like a pro since day one. My wife who has never been in the framing industry has become the primary mat cutter in our business. Plus, the training time is minimal and it allows for far much more creativity than manual mat cutters.
Our revenue has definitely increased since the word is out that we are using a CMC. There is so little waste that our profit margin has increased as well, while productivity has doubled or tripled.
Before we had the Eclipse, triple mats, especially with any special cuts, were a nightmare. We enjoyed all aspects of framing except for matting; we even paid people to do our matting for us, we bought them cutters and set them up at home. Imagine how happy we were to see the CMC finally become available.
Now our whole family enjoys using the Eclipse. Matting is fun now, and the possibilities are endless. We have yet to turn away a hard to cut mat… Actually, there’s no such thing anymore. Framing overall has been revolutionized.
Not having a Wizard or Eclipse puts a framer way behind the 8 ball. It’s a lot like not having a computer or cell phone. You can survive, but reaching out to people has never been easier.
Being a Wizard/Eclipse customer opens a whole new door in framing. It is a definite confidence booster and there is no doubt that our mats are perfect every time. We are now the best framers in our neck of the woods.

Jon Weiner - Frames, Etc. - Roswell, GA. - 06/28/2007
I currently have a Wizard CMC 8500 and IF Visualization in my shop. I love the endless possibilities to make creative mat designs with my Wizard. My customers love it! I also appreciate the ability to cut mats in volume when I have an order with numerous pieces. It saves me an enormous amount of time.
I set up the Wizard 8500 myself and found it very easy to do. I was up and cutting mats the same morning I put it together. Setting up IF Visualization was also easy for me. I already had a camera setup, so I just had to learn the new software. IF Visualization was very easy to learn…you don’t need to be a computer expert to use it.
I have been using visualization software in my store for the last 2 years. I have used Specialty Soft and FrameVue. I switched to Wizard’s IF Visualization because I feel it offers the best tools to serve my customers. IF Visualization allows me to show my customers all of the Wizard templates on their own art or photos at the click of a button. Nothing helps a sale like having the ability to show my customers their art or photos framed using the Wizard templates…to show it is to sell it!!!! My customers feel much more at ease in trying something new, like a specialty corner mat, once they have viewed it on the monitor. For me, IF Visualization was the easiest visualization software to use of the 3 programs I have experience with. Specifically, I love the way IF Visualization allows you to drop your samples with the artwork on the counter without needing to line everything up... you just grab and rotate the art, mats, frames and filets. This makes the process go a lot faster. I have found some other programs have trouble getting a repeat pattern on a very wide moulding, but IF Visualization also is very good at capturing wider mouldings.
I run my business by myself, so my Wizard 8500 saves me a lot of time. This helps me keep up my productivity and still have time to handle the other aspects of running a business. IF Visualization and its ability to show the customer the numerous Wizard templates has helped me to sell more of these specialty cuts, which translates to more revenue.
I now don’t know how I managed with out a Wizard. Before I had a Wizard, I spent so much more time cutting mats, especially multiple opening mats. I look at that as time that could have been spent on the other aspects of running a business. The combination of the Wizard CMC and IF Visualization has taken my business to the next level. I have actually gained many new customers from advertising the frame visualization service. Customers have told me that they chose my store based on the fact that we offered frame visualization. My customers love to see the different mat designs and possibilities.
The best thing about being a Wizard customer is having the ability to set my store apart and better serve my customers. I can offer my customers so much more now that I have a Wizard and use IF Visualization. IF Visualization and a Wizard mat cutter really compliment each other. I use IF Visualization in the front of my store to sell what I produce on my Wizard in the backroom.
To framers considering purchasing a Wizard, I would say GET ONE NOW!!! You won’t regret it. More than that, you will look back and wonder why you did not get one sooner. Plus, Wizard’s customer support has been OUTSTANDING and extremely thorough.

Brad Deal - Sticks and Stones - Peoria, IL - 05/14/2007
Sticks and Stones (www.createsticksandstones.com) was originally an “I Spy” game played with our daughters as they were learning the alphabet. We’d find objects in nature, art, and architecture that formed letters. We made it a goal to find every letter of the alphabet, which took us a few months worth of weekends. We then started teaching our oldest daughter, Allie, to read short words such as “DOG” and “CAT”. From there, we decided to frame and mat some letters and present them as a wedding gift for our middle daughter’s teacher using her new last name. The response to that first gift was amazing, and many people asked where we’d bought such a unique gift. We knew we had an idea that would make a great gift or home décor item.
We started sending samples to every catalog related to home décor and gift giving and got accepted by two of them almost immediately – Grandin Road and Uncommon Goods. We received over 300 orders our first month in Grandin Road, and at that point we decided to bring the framing in house. Since Wizard offers a true rental program, we decided that was the safest option for our still-new business. We average 24 corners per keepsake created, and we sell over 600 keepsakes monthly, so needless to say our Wizard gets a lot of use!!
Sticks and Stones has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazine, we’ve been filmed for HGTV’s “I Want That!” for release in a future segment, and we have a few more magazine releases scheduled for later this year (TBA). We’ve also had a video segment on the Oprah Winfrey show about our company. We are very focused on building our brand, and the national exposure from magazines and television has definitely helped with brand awareness.
(In the beginning) We actually outsourced the framing to a local frame shop, and we knew the Wizard would be our first and most important piece of equipment when bringing framing in house. So, thankfully, we’ve never been without our Wizard!
I learned how to create, manipulate, and save templates in a couple hours. The software is so user-friendly. From opening the boxes upon arrival to complete setup of the Wizard was about 2 hours. From there we were off and running.
The Wizard CMC 8500 is our lifeline for production. The average length of time it takes to cut one mat is about 30 seconds, so we are never waiting on mats – which is crucial! Paying a person to cut mats the old way would cost at least 4 times as much per month! I love the speed and pinpoint accuracy of the Wizard 8500. I think the software package is the most user-friendly on the market. The ease of cutting double mats makes this the perfect machine for our business. We may rent a second one in the future as production dictates!
The thing I love about being a Wizard customer is knowing the most vital piece of equipment for our business is the best on the market, and the rental plan is perfect for our needs.
I wouldn’t recommend starting a framing business without having a Wizard CMC on hand. Whether deciding to rent or buy a Wizard, the company has a plan to fit your business model, plus their customer support department is easy to reach, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Val Morgan - Heart and Home Custom Framing - Carson City, NV - 03/09/2007
It’s hard to narrow down the best thing about my Wizard 8500. Maybe that it's been so user-friendly. And it doesn't hurt my hands. And it saves me so much time. And it gives me more to offer my customers. And it's fun to use. And I can be more creative, because I can actually do the mats that I've only been able to dream about. And I don't dread multiple-opening double mats anymore. And....
Having just completed my first year in this shop, it was very busy, and very stressful, trying to do everything mostly by myself. Mat cutting took a huge chunk out of my day. I had to pay another shop to do special cuts when I couldn't avoid taking the order, and my neck and hands ached so bad sometimes I could barely move them.
When my Wizard arrived, my husband and I set it up in one evening, and we're even still married after that! Set-up instructions were clear and understandable. I was able to start cutting mats for orders within two days! And not just simple rectangle openings, either. I had never even seen a computerized mat cutter work before that!
Since I got the Wizard, I've welcomed a part-time framer, Gail, on board, and she had used a Wizard 5000 before, so we're learning the 8500 together. Having the Wizard is like having another employee! It's even busier now, but so much less stressful. Mat designing and cutting is fun again, and we're looking forward to learning PathTrace. The time I save is being spent on improving and growing other aspects of the business. Previously, I had little time to devote to that. Our customers love the Wizard, too, and have started bringing in their friends to see it work! I'm not so tired at the end of my day, and my neck and hands and back don't hurt like they did. Priceless!
My productivity has benefited at this early stage, but revenue also. Time saved is money earned. I was awestruck the first time I cut a 16-opening mat and it took less than 2 minutes, from set-up to the finished mat! Do the math! By being able to offer my customers more creative matting as well as a faster turn-around time, they don't mind spending a little extra for the special treatment and have started telling others about it, which has already led to more framing orders.
If you have been considering purchasing a Wizard, stop considering it. Just do it… You will be amazed at the differences it will make for you and your business. Wizard makes it affordable. You will never look back.
